Circle up for whale story time and art activities for all ages to kick off Whale Week 2026!
You'll get the inside scoop on the North Atlantic Right Whale (NARW) with our sensational teaching tools: An inflatable, walk-through version of the science center's mascot, Smoke, and a life-size calf, Lefty.
All events are free and open to the public!
Each December marks the season when North Atlantic right whales (NARW) migrate south to calve their newborns off the coast of Georgia. Researchers estimate that there are fewer than 400 of these whales left, making them one of the most endangered large marine mammals on the planet.
Every winter, TIMSC hosts a multi-day agenda focused on protecting and educating about NARWs through the arts, sciences, and cultural projects. Check out the Whale Week 2026 schedule starting Nov. 30 and culminating in the Right Whale to Save Festival on Dec. 5.
