Explore Coastal Heritage Society's new exhibition, Loyalists & Liberty: Savannah in the American Revolution, at the Savannah History Museum.

Spanning approximately 3,000 square feet, this landmark exhibit is likely the most extensive collection of 18th-century artillery from a single Revolutionary War naval event to ascend from the water. In 2021, during the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project, 19 Revolutionary War-era cannons, anchor fragments, and dozens of artifacts were discovered in the Savannah River near Old Fort Jackson.

Following years of extensive conservation, 17 of the cannons, three anchor fragments, and other remarkable objects will be displayed in the museum, offering visitors a rare opportunity to connect with a pivotal chapter in the nation's founding.

Loyalists & Liberty: Savannah in the American Revolution will present narratives more reflective of diverse participation in the Revolution, highlight Georgia's role in the movement, and expand on naval stories of the region.
