Can sharks really smell a drop of blood from a mile away? Why are sharks vital to the marine environment? And how in the world do researchers safely tag and track these important animals?

In this program you'll learn to distinguish shark myths from fact, the importance of sharks along coastal Georgia, and how researchers are able to tag and learn about these animals around the world.

This program will include a presentation on basic shark biology, a brief history of shark tagging, and will focus on conservation challenges, especially regarding recreational and commercial fishing. The program will also feature a mock work-up and shark tagging activity along with analyzing real shark tracking data. Don't be afraid! Jump in and learn about the fascinating world of sharks!

Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. This program is designed for ages 10 and up. All children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
