Saturday, November 30, 2024 for the 23rd Annual FREE Savannah Boat Parade of Lights FUNDRAISER. This 20plus year tradition has been enjoyed by generations of locals and visitors alike. The Savannah Boat Parade of Lights has also been a great benefit to the charities it has contributed to!
This year, again, we are partnering with Greenbriar Children's Center, an amazing organization which has been helping children and their families, in need, in Savannah since 1949! We will be donating proceeds raised by the parade to Greenbriar.
The Parade of Lights, led by the Georgia Queen Riverboat of Savannah Riverboat Cruises, a steadfast annual donor, will begin its voyage from The Dock at Eastern Wharf, in front of the Thompson Savannah Hotel, Our Premier Sponsor. After leaving the dock, the captains will circle past the Convention Center to the Talmadge Bridge...continue across the Savannah River past Plant Riverside District, along River Street, slowly passing the panel of judges at the Dock at Eastern Wharf, where their history and information will be announced ... And... Repeat the circle... ending back at the Dock at Eastern Wharf. Opening ceremonies will commence at approximately 6:45, allowing for the parade Captains to depart the dock at roughly 7pm, and start their fantastic two-hour journey! The Riverboat is also an amazing way to experience the parade! Get your tickets early!
Following the event, please join the Official Savannah Boat Parade of Lights Afterparty at the beautiful Thompson Savannah Hotel. A sneak peek of information cites
In past years, the Holiday Bar was held in the hotel's Sunroom, but this winter's celebratory drinkery will be something special as Bar Julian becomes Frosty's, a nostalgic Christmas-themed space serving the familiar fare as well as a seasonal slate of sips and bites. A snow-soft opening will begin the week of Thanksgiving and then Bar Julian will go live, advertising as Frosty's the night of the boat parade. Please watch for more details as parade day approaches. Rumors of igloos and a hot chocolate bar have been heard!
Enjoy the Crafty, Fun, Creative, Whimsically decorated vessels that these Captains and their Crews work so diligently on! Cheer them on as they volunteer their time and efforts to ring in the Holiday Season! The five Judge's Choice Winners will each receive a trophy, plus a gift certificate donated by Plant Riverside District for JW Marriott Hotel!
Parade t-shirts with SCAD Graphic Design Student Brooke Playne's 1st Place Winner design proudly displayed are now for sale on our website. This year's Pay-Per-Vote Contest raised over $1,000 for Greenbriar Children's Center, with 11 SCAD students participating! Other parade memorabilia, including custom designed tumblers, will also be on sale soon! A portion of the proceeds from each shirt and each item of memorabilia will be donated back to the parade! Your purchases are a great way to help this fundraiser and acquire treasured memories!!
This event is presented completely by volunteers NO proceeds will be used to pay anyone for their services or participation.
