In honor of the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, Tybee Island Historical Society will host a series of free, informative, community-centered talks that highlight different periods of Tybee Island's unique and diverse history. The first two talks will be held at the Tybee Post Theatre and the final two talks will be held in the Guard House at Fort Screven. Alongside our community partners the Tybee Post Theatre and the City of Tybee, we present the following series:

Searching for the Capitana: The Quest to Find America's Earliest

- Friday February 6, 2026 7:00 PM Tybee Post Theatre, Michael Thurmond, Restoring General James Oglethorpe's "Original Vision" for Georgia
- Friday February 20, 2026 7:00 PM The Guard House, Amy Cox,
Uncovering Silent Movies in Georgia (Savannah and Tybee Edition).

Dwyer-Ryan, "Orange and Green Will Carry the Day!" The Irish of Tybee Island
Where: Tybee Post Theatre (January 24th and February 6th) Tybee Guard House (February 20th and February 25th)
Food: The Tybee Post Theatre will sell concessions at the first two talks and the Tybee Island Historical Society will provide light refreshments at the final two talks.
Tickets: These events are free and open to the public. The Tybee Post offers an option to reserve tickets, but it is not required.
