7 Reasons to Visit Savannah in 2026

A couple strolling through Monterey Square in Savannah, GA.

In Monterey Square, even a simple walk becomes a moment worth remembering.

Let's put it this way: Savannah in 2026 is having a moment. Between milestone anniversaries, new and long-standing experiences and that classic Southern appeal, this is a year that will give visitors more than they expect.

Here are a few reasons why.

01

We’re Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday—With a Head Start

On July 4, 2026, the United States turns 250, and Savannah is proudly part of that story. Founded in 1733, Georgia’s first city was already well established by the time 1776 rolled around. As communities across the country mark this historic milestone, Savannah will honor it in ways that feel true to our roots—through history, culture and meaningful moments that connect past to present. We’ll be sharing more details on how to celebrate with us, so stay tuned.

02

Our Hotel Inventory Keeps Expanding

There's one thing we can guarantee about your visit: accommodations are always in abundance. Our hoteliers are stealing the spotlight with the exciting openings of Recess Hotel & Club and Tempo by Hilton Historic District. We’d recommend making your reservations now. We also want to mention our more recent newcomers from 2025—Municipal Grand and AC Hotel Savannah. Think exclusivity, modern touches, river views and more, all available within the center of the Historic Landmark District.

Our Flavorful Guilty Pleasure

Plain and simple, we love to eat, and there’s always somewhere new to break bread in Savannah. The list is impressive—and we can’t guarantee it won’t get longer. The Douglas boutique hotel's restaurant, Lester's - a French oyster bar, Marbled & Fin (from our friends at The Neighborhood Dining Group, who brought us Husk Savannah), Bowdie’s Chophouse taking its place at Eastern Wharf, Bull and Barrel Steakhouse expanding from Statesboro to the corner of 37th and Abercorn Street, and Paris Baguette on Broughton Street (TBD on this delicious addition).

And 2025 brought a well-rounded list of favorites we can't stop raving about, including Lucia Pasta Bar (Kyle Jacovino’s second restaurant), Veratina, Savannah Culinary Cooking School and restaurant on Bay Street, Neon Fish - Sorry Charlie's rooftop oasis, The Darling Oyster Bar, Sunday Sunday, FishBar and The Laundry Diner.

There's much more for you to devour, right here.

Our Seasonal Rotation of Festivals & Events

The beautiful thing about Savannah is that it doesn’t solely rely on its looks. Our city loves a good time year-round, and our seasonal events have lasting appeal. Don’t miss the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (we’re Irish all year but celebrate big on the day), Savannah Music Festival, Club Car Championship at The Landings, SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival and Sand Arts Festival, the return of Savannah Bananas season, Savannah Juneteenth Arts Festival, Savannah VOICE Festival and much more. Any season you choose, Savannah gives you a reason to show up.
