Cari Phelps, an award-winning designer and branding expert based in Savannah, dreamed that she designed a package of bath salts for a client with an emphasis on environmental sustainability. When she woke up the next morning, she started doing research and decided to make her dream a reality. She soon learned that Tybee is the Euchee Indian word for salt. This history inspired Cari to develop this natural bath and body care line using the scents of regional botanicals and natural ingredients, including Atlantic sea salt, to create a unique line of bath and body care products.

Cari founded Salacia Salts in 2012, armed with a commitment to environmental conservation, natural beauty and holistic health. Under her leadership, Salacia Salts creates top-quality bath and beauty products using environmentally responsible ingredients and packaging.

Made in Savannah, Georgia and inspired by native Southern botanicals, the product line captures the spirit of the ocean and chic coastal style. Salacia Salts is available in discriminating retail locations nationwide and at the company’s workshop and studio located in Historic Downtown Savannah near Forsyth Park.

The gift shop features local gifts, sustainably sourced goods and products made by female-led businesses and complimentary everyday essentials. Guests can drop in to make a salt soak or scrub, or book a workshop in advance to make one of several skincare products.

Salacia Salts products are free of colorants and petrochemicals, cruelty-free and handmade in small batches. A woman-owned business and team of five, values include beauty wellness for the entire body - inside and out, a good dose of Southern hospitality, respecting Earth’s natural resources, always keeping sustainability in mind and keeping things simple. Salacia Salts utilizes resources smartly, always remembering where the company came from, using real ingredients and remaining transparent.

Salacia Salts’ mission is to provide useful, practical products and experiences to help consumers relax and enjoy life wherever they are. Passionate about environmental responsibility (reducing the use of plastics and encouraging re-use of packaging), the company strives to showcase unique ways to use everyday, Georgia grown ingredients, such as grits and clay, and provide customers with products they love and handmade by real, local Savannah people.
