Mighty Talks │ First Ten Over Berlin with presenter John O'Neil III

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force's monthly Mighty Talk series is proud to present museum Trustee, John O'Neil III, who will be recognizing the first American Eighth Air Force B-17 crew credited with releasing bombs over the Nazi capital of Berlin on March 4, 1944. About the Presentation
The presentation will recognize the first American Eighth Air Force B-17 crew credited with releasing bombs over Berlin on March 4, 1944. The ten-man crew of Lt. William V. Owen of the 482nd Pathfinder Bomb Group, 813th Bomb Squadron carried out a mission that marked a pivotal moment in the air war over Europe and underscored the growing reach and determination of Allied air power.

About the Presenter
John J. O'Neil III is a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force and has served the museum in multiple leadership roles since first joining the Board in 2007. His connection to the Mighty Eighth began at birth. His father, John J. O'Neil Jr., was a B-17 tail and waist gunner with the 95th Bomb Group on Lt. Bill Owen's crew and later transferred to the 482nd Bomb Group to help pioneer early radar bombing technology. John attended Bomb Group and crew reunions with his father for more than two decades and has written and spoken extensively on the use of radar in the Eighth Air Force and the historic March 4, 1944 Berlin mission.
