Don't miss this rare opportunity to celebrate the life and work of Flannery O'Connor in one unforgettable evening!
Join us for a special evening at the Tybee Post Theater as we present Flannery, an award-winning documentary that explores the life and work of the iconic Southern Gothic writer, Flannery O'Connor. Winner of the first-ever Library of Congress / Lavine / Ken Burns Prize for Film, Flannery takes an intimate look at O'Connor's life, with her family home at Andalusia in Milledgeville, Georgia, serving as the backdrop. Through never-before-seen archival footage, personal letters, and O'Connor's own words, the film captures the essence of a writer whose starkly redemptive style continues to inspire artists and activists alike. Featuring insights from Mary Karr, Tommy Lee Jones, Hilton Als, and more, and narrated by Mary Steenburgen, this is a film no literary fan should miss.
PEACOCKTAIL PARTY - 5PM-6PM
The evening will kick off with a Peacocktail Party from 5-6 p.m. at 1 Officers Row, a historic home on Tybee Island. Enjoy drinks, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and the opportunity to mingle with the film's director, Elizabeth Coffman, in an intimate setting. This exclusive gathering has limited capacity, with only 50 tickets available. Tickets for the party are $55 per person or $100 per couple, and include admission to the documentary screening at the Tybee Post Theater.
DOCUMENTARY SCREENING - 6:30PM
Following the cocktail party, the theater will screen Flannery at 6:30 p.m. After the film, stay for a Q&A with the director, Elizabeth Coffman, and producer Ted Hardin, to delve deeper into the making of this extraordinary documentary. Tickets for the screening alone are available for $10.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home, a nonprofit organization in Savannah, GA, dedicated to preserving the legacy of this remarkable author.
