Don’t leave Savannah without discovering its islands along the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Driving east from downtown, pass through pretty residential areas in Thunderbolt, Whitemarsh, Talahi and Wilmington islands, stopping for fresh seafood when your appetite demands a break. A little farther south, enjoy the beauty of secluded Burnside Island and the Vernon River. Walk the trails at Oatland Island Wildlife Center and see wolves, birds of prey, foxes, cougars, bobcats and other animals.
